What is caption? the meaning of caption is a short text written as a description or explanation to accompany an image or video. The main function of captions is to provide context or additional information to readers regarding the visual content they see.

A. Tujuan Pembelajaran
Setelah mempelajari modul yang berjudul Caption terutama Kegiatan Pembelajaran 1 ini, Anda akan mampu:
1. menganalisis fungsi sosial teks penyerta (caption) dari gambar / grafik / bagan terkait tujuan dan topik.
2. menganalisis struktur teks teks penyerta (caption)dari gambar/grafik / bagan terkait konten dan penulis.
3. menganalisis unsur kebahasaan teks penyerta (caption) dari gambar/grafik / bagan terkait penggunaan verb be, infinitive verb, dan pronoun .
4. membedakan beberapa captions terkait fungsi sosial, struktur teks,dan unsur kebahasaan.
5. menangkap makna teks captions terkait fungsi sosial, struktur teks,dan unsur kebahasaan.
B. Uraian Materi
Ketika kita membaca koran baik cetak maupun elektronik tentu pertama kali yang perhatian kita adalah gambar yang disajikan. Pembaca akan mencari tahu tentang gambar itu dengan membaca teks yang diberikan pada bagaian gambar tersebut. Kita akan mengetahui kejadian pada gambar melalui teks tersebut. Jadi sangat penting memberikan teks penyerta gambar (caption) pada sebuah gambar yang dipublikasi. Mari berlatih memahami beberapa teks penyerta pada gambar (caption) berikut ini.

Practise 1:
Read out these two captions (text 1 and text 2) loudly and meaningfully and take a note on your notebook if you find some words that you do not understand. Then consult the dictionary.

Setelah mempelajari modul yang berjudul “Caption” terutama Kegiatan Pembelajaran 2 ini, Anda akan mampu:  
1. Merancang teks penyerta (caption) dari sebuah gambar/grafik/bagan. 
2. Menggunakan kata kerja be dan infinitive. 
3. Menulis teks penyerta (caption)dari gambar/grafik/bagan 

B. Uraian Materi 
Setelah membaca beberapa teks caption dari gambar/grafik/bagan pada Learning activity 1, maka sekarang saatnya berlatih menuliskan caption pada beberapa gambar yang disediakan dan menuliskan 2 atau 3 kalimat

    A group of students seen playing a traditional game from Indonesia called "Tarik Tambang". They are seen playing very competitively, working hard to win the game. Cohesion is really needed in this traditional game because playing together will produce a lot of energy and win this game.
